4 Month Appointment
Oh man! Logan was begging me this morning to go with me to Everly's 4 month doctor appointment. He came. He was asking if she'd get a shot and would tell me how it's gonna hurt her. I explained what the shots were for and that they were checking other things. Sounds like a very typical boring run of the mill morning. We get in there and after measurements the doctor offers the flu shots. She then adds that my son can get them too. I don't think he was listening as there was no reaction from him. I told her that we may as well. I felt like kind of an awful mom. The appointment quickly turned dramatic. I told him what was up once the doctor left and it was tears and shaking. Once the nurse came in I asked Logan who should go first. He said Everly. Well, Everly cried and Logan hit the deck. He jumped and hid under his dad's seat. I wanted to die...stifling laughter. Who knew this was all going to turn on Logan. He survived. I bet that kid is NEVER going to ask to go to Everly's appointments again :)

Dinner Conversation
Every time I post, I think this will be my last for a long time. Life is about to get very boring! Hah!
The conversation over dinner:
Logan: I want to get baptized.
Me: You do, why?
Logan: Because I get a gift.
Me: Oh, you do? What gift do you get?
Logan: I don't know...
Don't you love what word(s) they cue into at Sunday School. The conversation continues...
Me: What's the "still small voice"?
Logan: I know, it's Jesus.
Me: No, not quite.
Logan: (eyes start looking to the right and the left) I can't hear anything.
I was so wishing I had a video camera to relive these answers. Because regardless of this sharing now...it's just not the same as seeing his face trying to figure out the answers to these questions.
Needless to say, we have a few things to cover in family home evening.

Our week!
This is what a date looks like for Jimmy lately...we've moved them to the morning because "yay! we don't need a babysitter!!" Loving kindergarten! We delighted ourselves with some Kneaders. Which in other news, they thought a fruit bowl was a bowl full of broccoli with mayo dressing. You should have seen Jimmy's face, hah!
Some more evening storytime...
Logan asked if he could have one of dad's shirts. Apparently it goes best over PJ's.
The fascination with hands has morphed into checking out her feet. They sure are something with those wiggly toes. I often can get her to laugh by pretending to eat them.
Conference weekend...
This morning...Logan asked for a stacked sandwich. Well, sometimes he gets what he asks for. Why get one flat boring sandwich. He wanted to show it off, hah!
Oh yes...and Bates died. It's been rather traumatic. Like every crossing guard, teacher, stranger, neighbor must hear that his pet died. They quickly ask what kind of pet this was. Logan doesn't hear them or who knows what...I then inform them it is all over a fish. Now...we're onto a trio of small "White Cloud's" named Freddy, Teddy, and Meddy. Good times!

Conversations Home from School
Jimmy asking Logan: How big do you think I am?
Logan: 100
Jimmy: How big is mommy?
Logan: 20
Logan: My teacher said Ryker has dirt in his ears.
Mom: Why does she say that?
Logan: He doesn't listen very well.
Mom: What did the teacher do about it?
Logan: She cleaned out his ears.
Mom: How did she do that?
Logan: I don't know.
Logan: Nate got in trouble today.
Mom: What happened?
Logan: He was supposed to say "please". He said "poop".
These are serious offenses people ;) I wish these were the type of problems adults face.

The Hulk
My baby straight jacket arrived and I was (you heard it "was") over the moon. Everly as I think I may have mentioned before has been breaking her swaddle at night. This has caused both of us to lose sleep. My solution was to get a SwaddleMe. I've only heard great things from others, so figured a little velcro suit might be our answer. Below was my trial run and it seemed flawless, she was grunting and wiggling doing her best to get out.
The girl turns into The Hulk at night. No kidding...green and everything...no, but really, she has the gusto to pull the wrap around part up over her and have it around her neck so her arms are out and she has this band of fabric covering her face...kind of got me worried in the middle of the night...SIDs is always on the back of my mind. The other time was her arms through the top and out. Both times as quiet as a church mouse. As for my technique...I start with those arms straight as a pin (like I reach up under the blankets to hold them in place) and pull as tight as possible. Miss Sweetness of mine...you're impossible! So...back to the basic blanket and our mad pulling of fabric around her.

Yes, She's Still a Doll
Am I allowed to complain? She's terribly cute...and makes up for any bit of complaints. Ok, here's the issue: this girl has a new found talent...breaking a swaddle! It wouldn't be an issue until it's the middle of the night and she's hitting herself in the face, then thrashing around. The first time it happened, I nursed her, swaddled her, and rocked her to sleep. This continued a few nights, then my brain started working. I got up and just swaddled her and she went right back to sleep. The other night, I tried to help her fall asleep without swaddling...it just tortured us both. So...I am awaiting a baby straight jacket essentially hoping it's the answer to our middle of the night wake ups.
She's in 3-6 month clothes now...she's the size of a mini monster compared to our neighbors 1 month old who we were informed weighs currently 6lbs. These pictures start kind of showing how cute she gets. When you get her to really smile she starts bunching into a ball like a little rollie pollie and hides her smiles from the instigator. She's also become a drool machine, so out pop those cloth bibs to save on outfit changes in the day. I forget how 3 month olds are hard. She can't pick up anything with her hands intentionally. She just wants undivided attention when she's not napping, which naps have gotten less frequent. It's works out well for me most times unless the normal household chores have been put off too many times due to turning my time to her. Hard not too. Still awaiting the milestone of rolling over...
